Seeking Director of Business Development, Government Services

Due to sustained growth, we are seeking an experienced and talented Director of Business Development, Government Services to join the Spirit Aeronautics team. Starting salary will be determined on an individual basis, in accordance with successful candidate’s relevant skill set and work experience.

May work from a home office or a remote location or relocation for the right candidate.


The Director of Business Development, Government Services, is responsible for the independent effort to search and capture new business opportunities for direct and third-party US and foreign government contracts. This position will also service government and commercial customers who support aviation and aircraft related purchases through the government solicitation process. This person also ensures company and departmental goals and objectives are achieved and that all financial goals are met while maintaining employee and customer satisfaction.


  • Prepare proposals and bids to the government entities for all programs or services offered by Spirit Aeronautics.
  • Ensure compliance with government laws, rules and regulations and administer records, documents and reference materials related to government contracts and compliance.
  • Properly execute US and foreign government contracts while ensuring the company’s status remains in good standing with all government agencies and entities.
  • Review Commerce Business Daily (CBD) and other federal registers for government proposals which Spirit Aeronautics can support.
  • Work with suppliers on opportunities related to government business.
  • Maintain and foster relationships with necessary government agencies.
  • Maintain and foster inter-company relationships.
  • Maintain appropriate government quotes and contracts files.
  • Maintain availability and use formal government reference materials, e.g. FAR, D/FAR, specifications and standards, government publications.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, logistics or related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • At least three years’ experience directly selling to customers in the aviation services, aircraft parts sales/distribution and/or manufacturing industry required.
  • Coursework in Public Administration and government-related subjects including contracts, contract administration, regulations, and government law is a strong plus.
  • Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) designation is a strong plus.
  • At least five years’ experience in government contracts and business with some government accounting experience, to include pricing, negotiation, contract administration and compliance.
  • Discretion, good judgment, organizational and management ability, initiative, and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills, analytical capabilities, and collaboration skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strive for exceptional quality, results driven and customer focused.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Well organized.
  • Have or be able to obtain passport and perform international and domestic travel as needed.
  • Must understand, read and write English and be proficient with different computer programs including CRM and MS Office.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Thorough working knowledge of FAR, D/FAR regulations.
